About Andrew
Andrew passed the stringent assessment for the Piano tuning and repairs course then run at the Royal National College for the Blind, Hereford. After this 3 year full time course with continuous assessment, Andrew was one of the 50% of those who had enrolled to complete it. He passed the final AEWVH exam, obtaining a diploma with credit in Piano tuning and Repairs. This course was considered one of the best courses at the time and it allowed Andrew to become a full member of the Association of Blind Piano Tuners.
Whilst at college, Andrew also took 2 extra City and Guilds exams in Practical reconditioning, tuning and toning, voicing hammers, regulating and theory, which he passed with distinction. Andrew became self-employed in 1986 and has worked in the Gloucestershire area ever since. Andrew has worked continuously for private customers, schools (LEA and private), churches, music shops, dealers and a local piano factory.
Andrew also worked on the staff for the Welsh School of Musical Instrument Making and Repairs, as well as being invited back to the Piano Tuning department of RNCB Hereford as a lecturer, where he originally trained.
Andrew has many connections in the trade for work not personally undertaken e.g casework re-polishing, full re-stringing, removals, buying and selling.
Andrew offers a friendly and down to earth service at a reasonable price.
